BIOGRAPHY

So you want a glimpse into the history of the band? Sure, be my guest. I am Cedric, bass player for Twenty-Six Other-Worlds and this is our story.

Back in 1996, Skid (Guitar) and I walked out of an Iron Maiden concert with the firm intent -much like everybody else in the audience (including Luni)- of forming a band like Iron Maiden. Some months later we started jamming to a few Iron Maiden tunes, hit it up with Luni on drums (small place Malta) and bumped into the remaining two members (Stefano – guitar and Fonzi – vocals). We stirred up a gig with Iron Maiden covers and caused quite a ruckus under the name Angel Dust.

For a couple of years we were a hybrid of an Iron Maiden cover band and some rather crudely written original material. And during that time we attracted quite a bit of attention locally. And it was fun too, especially sitting in our rehearsing room, kidding ourselves that Iron Maiden would return to Malta and have us open the show for them. Funny thing that they eventually did come back in 1998. Funnier still that we did open the show. We played in front of 5000 people that day and nearly pissed our pants as we glimpsed Harris and Nicko watching us backstage. I never touched a single beer that day, only water. I wanted to remember every detail. To this day, all I remember is a blur. Adrenaline is a bitch.

Some time later, tension blew the band apart. Luni, Skid and I kept at it, experimented with our individual playing styles and matured individually and as a trio. You must understand that we grew up together as musicians, with precious little musical experience prior to this band. And what we are today individually is for the bigger part the influence we've had over each other.

For a few years we auditioned various members to rebuild the band, more often than not, wasting a lot of time and getting nothing but frustration in return. We eventually teamed up with Chris (vocals) and later with Steve (guitar), completing our present day line-up. We also finally decided upon the name Twenty-Six Other-Worlds. Angel Dust was no longer appropriate for a long list of reasons and every other name we came up with seemed to suck big time. I distinctly remember taking the piss out of the name “Apocalyptic Fantasies” because it sounded like the title of a post-nuclear war porn movie. Luni hasn't forgiven me since.

But here we are now, past our first few growing pains and our milk teeth ready to be replaced by our adult ones. What seems to have been an awefully long journey is but the initial few steps. We've a long way to go. We're proud of our new album “Manipulated”, we think we've done a bloody good job with it and if you don't agree, you probably wanna close this page and browse elsewhere. It's been a learning process from day one. None of us had the slightest idea what to expect in the studio or what was expected of us. We had no idea which step came first and which came second or that there was one in between. But we gave it everything and more (including our bank accounts) and it has payed off.

Maybe we'll hit it big and play huge audiences. Maybe we'll die of artrithis from the humidity in our rehearsing room. Either way, it's gonna be one hell of a ride. You want in?
